Since 1959, Contra Costa Civic Theatre has offered on stage classes for all ages. All of the classes and camps are part of the "Live at CCCT" program.
Musical Juniors and Musical Kids rehearses an entire show while teaching drama skills including ensemble work, vocal projection, character creation, and choreography.
Students audition for parts and then rehearse the show — one song and scene at a time. Young actors are expected to memorize lines and rehearse musical numbers between classes.
CCCT is dedicated to ensuring a positive theatrical learning experience for every student, stressing process, not product.
Musical Kids (ages 6-10) is geared for young actors who are new to performing. The shows are selected to match the experience level of the performers and will have fun parts for all participants. Musical Kids takes place at CCCT on Wednesday afternoons from 4–5:45 pm. Parents are asked to assist with the productions in one of many categories: costumes, sets, props, publicity, food, set up and strike — no experience necessary.
Musical Juniors (ages 9-15) is for more experienced and older performers and will undertake a longer, more challenging production with strong ensemble participation. Musical Juniors takes place at CCCT on Monday afternoons from 4–6 pm and a few additional Saturday mornings for extended rehearsals.
Come join Musical Juniors and experience all aspects of live theatre!
CCCT is dedicated to ensuring a positive theatrical learning experience for every student. CCCT stresses process, not product. We focus on learning about theater and discourage competition. We are here to instill a love of the theatre in every young person and hope that our non-judgmental environment will encourage each student to express his or her full personality.

In this series of classes for young performers, students will experience the challenges and joys of improvisation. This series will begin with well structured games to ease students into the form and develop a focused sense of spontaneity. We'll gradually introduce free form games, and allow performers to build worlds using their freshly acquired techniques and creativity. During the final class, students will have the opportunity to share their work with friends and family. The class size is limited and no experience is necessary.
