Attendance

Every day of camp is important. Missing any part of a day could mean that your child will miss participating in video-tapings, rehearsals, special projects like working with makeup or theatre games. Please schedule appointments, family obligations or travel before or after your camp session. If your child is ill and cannot make it to camp one day, please call the emergency number listed above - we cannot proceed with camp activities until each child is accounted for, so please call.

The First Day of Camp

It is mandatory that every camper attend the first day of camp. Important information and instruction is given that day and missing it will compromise your child's ability to participate fully in the session.

Auditions

On the first day of camp we will hold auditions to assess your child's skill and comfort level on stage. Your child must prepare a two-minute (or less) memorized audition piece. This can be a poem, standard monologue or a passage from a book-no jokes, improvised or self-written materials, please. The audition is the only chance the staff will have to see your child perform before we cast the show, pick something easy and fun. We are looking for presence, voice projection, posture and, of course, talent. Encourage your child to shine! Visit www.ccct.org for a detailed list of FAQs regarding auditioning or call (510) 524-9012 to request a copy. We encourage you to look at this as it provides excellent information regarding auditioning.

Parents Welcome

CCCT staff will be on hand the first day of each session to answer questions and give tours of the facilities. You are welcome to sit in for any part of the day, and we ask that your inform your child's director if you would like to do that. Auditions usually start around 10:30 a.m. and run until lunchtime. If you are interested in the theatre's year-round programming, volunteering, or donating cash, goods or services to the theatre, please let your child's counselor know, and they will have someone from the theatre call you. They will be happy to help you.

Carpooling

We will set aside a few minutes for parents to talk about carpooling at the beginning of the day. Coordinating carpools will be the responsibility of the interested parties and not CCCT. We do not accept any responsibility for transportation to and from camp.

Daily Guidelines

We start each day with games and exercises-it is important to be on time! Also, please make arrangements for your child to be picked up promptly at 4:00 p.m. CCCT does not provide supervision before or after camp.

Clothing

We will be playing with makeup, tumbling, and playing in the park-campers should wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Also, for safety reasons, all campers must wear closed-toe shoes. Since we eat outside in the park every day, each child should bring a sweatshirt or sweater to wear. Please write or sew your child's name in these garments.

Lunch

Every camper must bring a lunch daily. The bag or lunchbox should be clearly marked with the child's name and consist of something very portable like sandwiches and fruit.

Snack

We provide a snack at approximately 3:00 p.m. and serve one or more of the following: pretzels, cookies, crackers, fruit punch, lemonade and apple juice. If your child has special dietary needs, please include a snack when packing his or her lunch.

Counselor Improv

At 3:30 p.m. on most days, campers enjoy an improv show put on by the camp counselors and directors. Parents are welcome! Please enter the auditorium through the rear door (located at the top of a short flight of stairs in the theater's lobby) and sit in the first section of seats on your left.

PERFORMANCE DAY

The second Thursday of your child's session each group will perform a production created especially for camp.

The show starts at 7:00 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m. Parents are not allowed backstage on performance day. Each child will be given four (4) complimentary tickets to bring home to his or her family and you may purchase additional tickets the night of the show for $1 each.

Campers

Children will stay at camp the day of the show from 9:00 a.m. until the show is over at approximately 8:30 p.m. We will serve pizza for dinner. If your child cannot eat plain cheese pizza, please provide two lunches on this day.

The Last Day

This is, in some ways, the most important day of camp. We spend time de-briefing about the show-exploring what worked, what didn't, how the kids feel about their participation-and the counselors and directors share their appreciation for a job well done. We also play some special games and have an awards ceremony and party. Don't let your child miss it!
