Although the “A” used to stand for “Advanced”, A Camp has always been open to teen actors of any skill level. Today, we just call it A Camp, as we have since its inception.
In our two-week long sessions, our “A-Campers” learn and build on theatre skills while working on a culminating performance. We search for compelling, 2-3 person scenes from professional plays and cast the campers in roles that will challenge them. Skills and workshops this year will include improv, projection, staging, character work, clowning, stage combat, and more!
Campers also get the experience of being a part of an ensemble, the performance equivalent of a team!

First Day “Audition”
On the first day of camp, we have a friendly “audition” where each camper gets on stage and performs a piece in front of everyone. The purpose of this is for the staff to see each camper’s skill and comfort level on stage on day one. The piece must be a two-minute (or less) memorized audition piece in English. This can be a poem, standard monologue, passage from a book, etc. Some students even recite the ABCs! Pick something easy and fun. We are looking for stage presence, vocal projection, and of course, pizzazz! Encourage your child to shine!
