Scholarships

For more than 25 years, Contra Costa Civic Theatre has provided the youth of the Bay Area a positive theatrical learning experience through its popular summer Drama Camp programs. Emphasizing process over product, Drama Camp seeks to instill a love of theatre via a non-judgemental environment that allows each young person the opportunity to express their full personality. CCCT believes that every child can benefit from this program, and is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to those for whom the cost of tuition creates a barrier to participation.

To apply: CCCT uses a two-page universal application form for all scholarships, one to be completed by a parent or guardian and one by a teacher familiar with the camper. Please complete the application and return to CCCT by 5pm on February 15, 2019. Applications should be emailed to ccct@ccct.org. Applicants will be notified by February 22, 2019.

Mark West Scholarship

Mark West began a 30-year love affair with the Contra Costa Civic Theater (CCCT) in the 1980’s—first as an actor and then as a counselor and director of the CCCT Summer Drama Camp. At camp it was sometimes difficult to determine who was having more fun – the campers or Mark. He played an important role in teaching many of the current Drama Camp staff how to properly direct the students. Mark was diagnosed with cancer in January, 2008, yet he continued teaching Drama Camp until 2010. He passed away in November 2011. Mark was loved by his campers and beloved by the entire CCCT community. Established in 2012, this scholarship is funded by the family and friends of Mark West to honor his memory and support his passion for the next generation of theatre lovers.
